Why is learning vocabulary particularly important for preparing HSK test?
The HSK test is the most common standardized test of Chinese ability.
Vocabulary is a key part of learning Mandarin. It is even more important when preparing and practicing the HSK exam (you don’t have to read and write Chinese characters for HSK 1 because pinyin will be provided). The HSK exam is not only about speaking and understanding Mandarin, it is a difficult exam that requires specific preparation.
Mastering the HSK vocabulary will give you the best possible chance to succeed in the HSK exam. Also, it is important to remember that you will get a passing or failing grade for any level of HSK test. Therefore, there is no need to stress yourself out. It’s not too hard to pass with proper preparation.
How many words do I need to know for each level of HSK test?
For each level of the HSK, you will need to learn a specific number of characters and new words. From 150 basic characters needed for the HSK 1, to the 5,000 characters used in daily life required for the HSK 6, the list of words you must learn will increase slowly from level to level.
