Online English to Chinese Translators and Dictionaries That Actually Work

Best Online Chinese Translation Tools & Dictionaries

We humbly admit that computer technology is getting stronger and can override humans in numerous aspects now. If you think the task of translating language, like a native speaker is insurmountable, you’re completely wrong and will be more wrong as we inch towards the possibility of having strong artificial intelligence.

The good news is we humans still do a better job.

Here’s a list of the Chinese translation tools that we think to work better than the others.

  • Linguee is a website that provides Chinese to English dictionaries. It has also a powerful and intelligent translator to help you translate any language to another language. It’s a mobile app that is available on the App Store and Google Play.

  • Wordreference.com has a huge database for Chinese words and provides pinyin, audio pronunciations, word definitions, sample sentences, synonyms, and English translation. It also has forums for your questions.

  • Pleco is the best Chinese English dictionary you can get. It’s available for iOS and Android systems. We recommend every Chinese language learner to have Pleco on their phone. It’s a must-have for Chinese learning. Some of the key features of Pleco are recordings from native speakers, licensed dictionary databases, a customizable flashcard system, and visual translation.

  • Google Translate was not a satisfying translation tool in the past, especially in the Chinese-English and English-Chinese fields. No longer. Whenever you’re going to translate a big chunk of language, even for professional purposes, use Google Translate. You won’t get disappointed, especially when it’s cheaper than hiring a human translator.

Btw, the above websites should all pay me for promoting their technologies.

Grammar Checkers That Don’t Work

While we were researching and comparing different English to Chinese & Chinese to English translators, we also found some interesting websites claiming they can auto-check Chinese grammar. Unfortunately, they don’t get the job done.

Here’s a list of all the auto Chinese grammar checkers that don’t work.
