How are your Chinese classes different from those at other language schools?
Our classes are different in every aspect. Every single lesson being taught in Sishu Mandarin (私塾中文) is a collective effort made by our ingenious teachers. Our teachers are all trained by our academic supervisors and mentored by our veteran teachers. And, we meet regularly to advance ourselves professionally.
We’ve also set a high bar for ourselves and strived to provide the highest quality of teaching since the very first day. We do not limit ourselves to teaching textbooks. We always try to tailor our classes according to our students’ learning needs.
Check out our top-quality recruiting and training process now.
What is special about your one-on-one instruction?
All our private classes will be set at your child’s pace of learning. Our teacher will help your child find the most comfortable learning pace. Your child will get the maximum language input and output in the classroom since they will be the center of our instruction, and all lessons will be modified according to their unique learning styles and needs.
Who will be my Chinese teacher?
As soon as an order is placed, we will contact you, asking about your preferences in the class schedule. We will then contact our teachers to find the best teacher who can match your child’s schedule.
What’s your teachers’ background?
We’re made up of a very young and energetic teaching team. Our teachers are not only forward-thinking but also professionally trained. Most of our teachers have a master’s degree, and many of them have a background in education. We have teachers who graduated from NYU, Columbia, Hunters, Fordham, Peking University, and other prestigious universities in the U.S. and China. Over 90% of our teachers are female and nearly all of them are native Chinese speakers. We also have teachers who are proficient in other Chinese dialects, such as Cantonese and Fujianese.

What Chinese textbook will I use?
We have a couple of our favored Chinese textbooks, and we use them all. Very often, we don’t rush to the textbook because we want to get a better understanding of what the kids’ level and needs are like before deciding which textbook they need to use.
How is my tuition calculated?
A big chunk of your tuition will go to our teachers, and the rest will go to rent, office expenses, administration, and taxes. Our primary goal is to build our reputation and then grow. We look for a long-term relationship with families and keep our margin under 15%.
What is your school location?
We have three locations in NYC. Click here to see the addresses.
Please note that all classes are appointment-based. No walk-ins are accepted.
Do you offer free lessons?
Free trial lessons are not available for kids. We can however provide a trial lesson at a discounted rate.
Do you offer online Chinese lessons?
Yes, we do offer lessons remotely, and we have students around the globe.
All our online lessons are now at a discounted price, and we have a special offer for all essential workers.
Although our online lessons are available for all levels of Chinese language learners, we recommend beginners and children who are under 12 to take in-person lessons since those classes are proven to be more effective.
