Why choose Sishu for Online Learning?
Unlike generic language apps or impersonal tutoring marketplaces, Sishu Mandarin brings the full rigor of our New York City classroom directly to your screen. We don't just "chat" on Zoom; we use interactive digital whiteboards, real-time document sharing, and cloud-based notes to ensure your online lesson is just as effective as being in person.
Every online student receives a customized digital learning plan. Whether you are joining us from London, California, or your home office in DC, you get the same high-quality curriculum and homework correction as our physical students, with the added benefit of learning from the comfort of your own home.
What class materials will I be given?
We curate materials based specifically on your proficiency level. Beginners typically start with a structured textbook to build a solid foundation in grammar and vocabulary. Advanced learners transition to "authentic materials"—such as news articles, business reports, and literature—to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world fluency.
What online teaching platforms do you use?
We primarily conduct lessons via Zoom or Google Meet to ensure high-quality video and interactive screen-sharing. If your company requires a specific platform (e.g., Microsoft Teams), please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate.
What are your cancellation and rescheduling policies for online Chinese classes?
We understand that schedules change. You may reschedule or cancel a class without penalty with at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be counted as a completed session.
Are online classes transferable to in-person classes?
Because our online and in-person tuition rates differ, packages are not interchangeable. However, your package is transferable to another person. If you cannot complete your course, you may gift or transfer your remaining credits to a friend or family member.
The Advantage of Remote Private Tutoring
Online private classes offer the ultimate flexibility for busy professionals.
Record Your Lessons: One major advantage of online learning is the ability to record difficult sessions to review pronunciation and grammar later—something you can't easily do in a physical classroom.
Global Access: You are no longer limited by your commute. Access our top-tier NYC-based teaching team regardless of your time zone.
Total Focus: Without the distractions of a coffee shop or a shared classroom, you and your teacher can focus 100% on your tones, pacing, and conversation goals.
Our Tech-Savvy Teaching Team
You will be paired with a native-speaking instructor who is specifically trained in remote pedagogy. Teaching online requires a different skillset than teaching in person—our teachers know exactly how to keep engagement high through a screen.
We use a young, energetic team of educators (mostly holding Master’s degrees from top US and Chinese universities) who utilize modern technology to make learning Mandarin accessible, fun, and clear.
