Level 1 (HSK 1)
Level 1 is designed for individuals with no prior experience in learning Chinese. This level corresponds to the first year of a Chinese language course in college (Chinese 101) or high school (Chinese 1). We will utilize the HSK 1 Standard Course for this level. Students are expected to complete Level 1 within 9 to 12 months.
Level 2 (HSK 2)
Level 2 is designed for individuals who have studied Chinese for at least 6 to 9 months and can achieve a score of 90 or above on the HSK 2 test. Students should be able to recognize at least 300 Chinese characters. It is expected that students will complete this level within 12 months. We will be using the HSK 2 Standard Course for this level.
Level 3 (HSK 3)
This level is best suited for students who have studied Chinese for at least 1.5 years or have scored 90 or higher on the HSK1 and HSK2 tests. Students should be able to read at least 600 Chinese characters. Additionally, knowledge of how to type in Chinese and read characters is necessary. While writing ability is not mandatory, it is strongly preferred.
Although this class is accessible for students who are conversationally fluent, it may be challenging for those who do not read or write any Chinese characters.
Students are expected to complete this level in about 18 months.
