Mandarin-Speaking Nanny for Two Young Children — Columbus Circle
We are two dads looking for a warm, caring, detail-oriented, and developmentally focused nanny to help care for our two daughters - 2.5 years old and 1 year old.
This is a Monday–Friday, 12:00–8:00 PM position, beginning in mid-to-late September, at our home near Columbus Circle.
Our daughters attend different schools and activities, so most days the nanny will care for one child at a time, with occasional care for both. We also have a wonderful live-in nanny, and the two caregivers work as a team when schedules overlap—typically around dinner and bedtime. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently while also coordinating closely with another caregiver.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys engaging with young children and understands their different developmental stages—someone who will get down on the floor and play, read frequently, encourage curiosity and independence, spend time outdoors, explore the city with them, and turn everyday routines into opportunities to learn.
COOKING
We would like the nanny to prepare healthy, varied, low-salt and low-sugar meals for the children. This includes nightly dinner as well as pacing their lunches for school/daycare the following day.
Someone who enjoys cooking and is willing to prepare meals for the adults when time permits would be especially appreciated, although the children’s care and meals are always the priority.
GETTING AROUND NYC
The nanny should be confident navigating New York City with young children, including walking, buses/subways, and Uber/taxis. School pickups and taking the children to classes, activities, playgrounds, and outings will be a regular part of the job.
MANDARIN
We would like the nanny to speak primarily Mandarin with the girls and help them develop meaningful, consistent exposure to the language through conversation, books, songs, play, and everyday activities.
“Baba” was born in Hong Kong and speaks some Cantonese and Mandarin, and our live-in nanny is from Taiwan, so Chinese language and culture are already part of the children’s home environment.
